About Me

Photography runs in my blood. My father, Charles E. Plumb, was a photographer and reporter alongside his career in the Washington State Air National Guard. He and my stepmother, Donna, later owned and ran a newspaper for many years. Growing up around cameras and storytelling, it was only natural that I developed a passion for still images.

My first camera, a vintage-style model similar to the old Kodak Duraflex, was a gift from my father. I remember looking down into the top of the camera, watching the world reflected through mirrors and captured through the lens. That simple yet magical experience sparked a lifelong love for photography.

My passion for photography truly ignited in high school when I joined the school newspaper as a photographer. My dad gave me a fully manual Minolta 35mm camera, and I spent countless hours capturing sporting events and school activities. As my skills grew, I took on the roles of Sports Editor and later Editor-in-Chief, but no matter my title, I was always behind the camera—shooting, developing, and printing black-and-white images for The Bengals Purr.

Life took me on a different path—a career in the military, followed by corporate work as a project manager—but my camera was never far from reach. Through the years, I’ve continued shooting, adapting to the evolution of technology. In 2024 alone, I shot over 7,000 digital images using my Pixel 6 Pro. While digital photography offers incredible flexibility and creative opportunities, I’ve always admired the unique qualities of film. This year, I’ve made the decision to return to shooting on film alongside digital, rediscovering the art of capturing compelling images in a medium that feels both nostalgic and timeless.

Some of my first film images in years have turned out fantastic, reigniting my excitement for the craft. I can’t wait to continue this journey, blending the best of both digital and film photography.
